It's a super old cliche, but it really does change you, even if the person totally deserves it, or even if it's their idea and they walk you through every step of it. Yeah. I'm sure she understood what you did for her, and how lucky she was to have someone who cared as much as you did. I don't think most people would have it in them to go as far as you did.
