R1 DEADLAND
[it’s strange, for the people who were already dead, the shift in scenery is sudden and complete. For those who have just arrived? It’s like you’re back where you left?
How strange.
But if you ever need her, you can always reach out to the guardian of this place.]
LOCATIONS
Note: locations lag a week behind the living counterparts

mayaaaaaaaaaaaa
I, uh.. er...
[He starts a little bit hestiantly, cursing himself for not writing down his thoughts on paper before deciding to do this.]
I.. well, after all the stuff they said about um. The codes and the AIs and stuff it got me thinking.
[2D? Thinking? It's way less likely than you think.]
And I.. uhhh... well I just felt like I didn't put enough of an effort to apologize to you for what I did. I'm not expectin' forgiveness or anything from it, I know what I did was inex.. unex... uh.. not-excuseable. But I still feel like I need to try harder to make it up to you, somehow. Now that we've been given a second chance.
[He holds the flowers out a little bit more towards her.]
So I wanted to invite you to have a cup of tea.
no subject
Oh.
[Honestly, the desire to close the door and go back to bed is mighty strong. But it's also very boring.
And she likes tea.]
...Is it going to be in the cafeteria?
no subject
[He almost wanted to go to the cafeteria. Almost.]
no subject
[Cough. Good for you, 2D.]
Well... okay. I guess I have the time to do that.
no subject
I promise I won't keep you long, I just wanted to talk about some stuff.
no subject
[Since she has a lot of laying in bed, and staring at the ceiling to be done today. She'll even have to push her existential crisis to tomorrow.]
Lead the way.
no subject
[2-D gives her a nod, starting towards the stairs with a slow gait to make sure she can keep up with his long legs.]
So, uh.. well. Um.... we never talked about what happened after I, er.. after you died. How everyone else reacted to it and what they said about you and stuff.
[Coughs.]
I didn't bring it up before 'cos it feels quite, uh, awkward... for me. I guess. But I don't wanna keep quiet about it either, 'cos then it's just not very fair to you since they're all your friends much more than mine.
no subject
...Oh, yeah. I guess I never really did talk about that, with anyone.
[Now she's looking at him, genuinely curious.]
Well, the good news is it's pretty awkward for me too. So... what's there to talk about?
no subject
Well, uhhh.... I guess I just thought it'd be nice to know how much everyone really cares about you. I know you said you felt useless, 'cos you couldn't channel spirits anymore but.. you touched the hearts of so many people, Maya.
[It's.. sad, the way he says this. Because it just reminds him of what he'd done. It hammers in a nail of guilt right into his heart -- but he continues anyway.]
You're a bright, sweet girl and there wasn't a single person who um... wasn't sad to find out that you had died. And I uh.. well. I definitely got what I deserved from all of them.
[The sharp slap to his cheek, the rough punch to his nose, that snapping pain that ran through his leg as it was stomped on and the crushing feeling when he was accused of lying about his own religion just to get away with murder...]
You were never, ever useless. You gave 'em all a sense of-- of hope and they wanted nothin' more than to remember you fondly and do you proud.
no subject
I mean... you've definitely touched people's hearts too. Maybe even more then I have.
[Heck, maybe if their positions were reversed, he would be the one getting all the sad reactions. she wasn't around to see just what happened though. Maybe that's a good thing.
She skirts around to his other side, head tilted just slightly.]
Wow... I guess if we ever get to see them again, I'll have to thank everyone for thinking so nicely of me. I kind of don't know what to say.
no subject
But he's thankful for her saying something like that, and he gives her a little smile when she moves to his other side.]
There's uh.. one more thing, about that.
[The musician's smile softens a little bit as he thinks about what he's about to tell her. Even when he was in a frazzled state of mind, he overheard Osomatsu talking about Maya-- saying warm things about her in his state of grief.. that's what he really wanted to talk to her about.]
During the er.. the trial? I guess that's what you could call them, yeah. During that, Osomatsu confessed something, and it's not really my place to say but I'm not quite sure if he'll ever get the chance to say it himself.
[It's pretty obvious what he means, but he slows down to a stop in the hallway to look at Maya as he says this, a really warm look to his expression.]
He fancies you quite a lot, Maya. And I think you have a right to know about that.
no subject
...
[Wait, wait. What did he say? She wasn't expecting to stop in the hallway, or for 2D to look so happy for a moment.
.....oh.]
Huh? He fancies me? What, like he... likes me?
no subject
[2-D will spare the details about how Osomatsu crushed his leg and gave him a black eye over what he'd done, and instead just focus on the happier part. The fact that Osomatsu felt so strongly about Maya -- that's special, isn't it?]
Now, I'm not sure what your feelings are about him and I'm not tellin' you this to make you feel bad either, I uh... well. I just thought it'd be nice to know that you are loved, that's all.
