Ending up here didn't bother me all that much, but I guess it wouldn't be like that for everyone.

How she wished she'd reached out to him more, and not just immediately judged. How she wished she'd remembered, he was a developing young adult- a teenager like so many of the rest of them, and it was harsh to dismiss him so quickly.
...How he was stupid, in what he'd done, and in doing so he caused them all a lot of heartache. How...she'd never wanted to find a dead body again, and yet--
...She can't say half of it because she's too caught in her own head, and she can't say the other half because you don't just say that to someone, so it's swallowed down with the rest of the horrible selfish bits of herself she's trying to eradicate.
But...she does look at him, properly, and finds her voice after a few long moments of fighting. ]
